Charlie's Play Time

a sweet sunday, late- afternoon playtime for charlie walker…. he loves the camera, both sides- cheese!! Loading up the truck with hot wheel ramps … and oh! mama reacts to climbing on the guitar? that means i gotta do it again! oh no!! she took the guitar away! wahhh!!! …. ou! whats this? a microphone? echo! echo! aaah!! aaah!!!! aaaaaaaah! -

hotel Walk

our sunset family walk down to the end of J dock then around the hotel... we watch a hummingbird perched on a mast. charlie chases the bunnies and proudly climbs the rocks stairs…. rusty sits on a boulder, gazed fixed to mouth of the harbor..i see his wheels turnin…. one day… we will sail out of this harbor and not return for a long time.

2 year old charlie

our sweet charlie walker…2 years old… he’s a happy kiddo… has a great disposition. loves heavy machinery…working trucks always get his attention…. and vehicles in general really.

his hair has grown so beautifully, we can’t bring ourselves to cut it, so protective hair-dos once a week keeps his locks out of his face for a couple days, and helps minimize damage and tears from brushing out tangles. he’s only has one little fringe trim at a year and a half old. the overall length is from birth.

our little man is so very expressive, we are never bored. he doesn’t quiet say words yet but he definitely says things lol. we’re just not sure exactly what he’s saying.

his growing interest in books keeps it exciting to find books keep him engaged. most recently “DIGGERSAURS” an absolute score of a find, showing off amazing machines as dinosaurs. followed by “good night construction site” which he will peruse his favorite pages in silence, soaking up the. beautiful imagery. sometimes even as he falls asleep. it’s so dang cute….

we are so blessed to be responsible for this adorable human and privileged to learn more about life thru him.

look at that cutie! and i dont mean the salmon dish…. oh sweet charlie! you look great in that red lifejacket! crazy to think you were still in my belly when we got that life jacket… and here it fits you well and soon it will not fit you at all! i adore your zest. Dinghy rides are the best way to spend time…. find a beach, drop anchor…. get sandy . rinse, snack, nap, repeat.

4 weeks of Charlie Walker, our sweet love child…so pleasant and cute, loves nap time with daddy and titty time with mama… outgrowing his clothes as he wears them…

we prepared for our first boat outing with charlie outside of the belly. cabin stowed, charlie propped up on the settee and mama’s nerves under control… we roared up the engine and untied the lines…woowhee! as we kicked into reverse… CLUNK! 4 turns of the wheel and we are floating out of the slip with no helm control of the rudder…thank goodness we were barely 10 ft out of the slip
“put it gear! go back in!” Rusty jumps back onto the dock, grabs a line and pulls our vessel back in… mission: replace the steering chain. a week later DONE! nice job Rusty!

… ready for a sea trial with the adjusted steering system, sail lines & halyards prepped, cabin stowed, charlie safely in his v-berth…ready to go!

imagine the disappointment in our hearts when the engine doesn’t start…Rusty is hot on the case! checking every wire and connection… this and that the other... maybe its this really old solenoid.. after all… some of these parts are from 1976… replaced that… no roar… our next suspect: the starter… so thats where we’re at! hopefully this old starter is the only thing between us and a sweet little sail up to dana point next weekend… till then - xo
